The latter of these as a volunteer, which opened up an opportunity to provide independent instruction and training for all levels of emergency medical technicians, as well as fellow volunteers.
Laurel is passionate about her work and believes that the most effective way to assist others in reaching their goals is through nonjudgmental compassion and understanding. Whether these goals are physical, psychological, emotional, or educational, she recognizes that each individual is just that – an individual – who has his or her own approach for which to reach them. One of her most beloved quotes and personal mantras is that as spoken by Mahatma Gandhi which states, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
