Understanding your medication is one of the most important steps toward using it safely and effectively.

The medications section of our patient education library covers commonly prescribed and discussed medications used in telehealth practice — including treatments for chronic conditions, acute illnesses, men’s and women’s health concerns, mental health, weight management, and more. Each page explains what the medication is, how it works, why it may be prescribed, possible side effects, important safety considerations, and what to expect during treatment, in plain language without the medical jargon.

Emergency Contraception — Ulipristal Acetate (ella®)

A prescription emergency contraceptive pill that helps prevent pregnancy by delaying ovulation when taken within five days after unprotected sex or birth-control failure.

Vaccinations

Preventive medicines that train the immune system to recognize specific infections and reduce the risk of serious illness, complications, and disease transmission.

Vitamin Deficiency

A shortage of one or more essential vitamins that can affect energy, nerves, bones, immunity, blood cells, healing, and other normal body functions.

Viral Illness

An infection caused by a virus that can affect many parts of the body and commonly causes fever, fatigue, respiratory, digestive, or other systemic symptoms.

Vaginal Dryness

Reduced natural moisture in vaginal and vulvar tissues that can cause dryness, burning, irritation, urinary discomfort, or pain with sexual activity.

Vaginal Yeast Infection

A common fungal infection caused by Candida overgrowth that can cause vaginal or vulvar itching, burning, irritation, soreness, and abnormal discharge.

Urinary Retention

A condition in which the bladder cannot empty completely, causing difficulty urinating, weak flow, incomplete emptying, or sudden inability to pass urine.

Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)

A bacterial infection of the urinary system that commonly causes burning with urination, frequent or urgent urination, pelvic discomfort, and changes in the urine.

Ulcerative Colitis

A chronic inflammatory bowel disease that causes inflammation and ulcers in the colon, often leading to diarrhea, abdominal pain, urgency, and rectal bleeding.
