Peptides are short chains of amino acids that act as signaling molecules throughout the body. Naturally occurring peptides help regulate hormone activity, metabolism, immune function, tissue repair, sleep, appetite, inflammation, and cellular communication.

Some peptide-based medications are already FDA-approved for specific medical conditions. Examples include insulin, GLP-1–based medications, certain fertility treatments, growth-hormone–related therapies, and other specialized drugs.

Why Are Peptides “All the Rage” Right Now?

Peptides have become one of the most talked-about areas in health, wellness, performance, weight management, and longevity. Much of this interest has been driven by the remarkable popularity of GLP-1–based medications such as semaglutide and tirzepatide, which demonstrated how medications that mimic natural peptide hormones can significantly influence appetite, metabolism, blood sugar, and body weight.

Interest has also grown because peptides are designed to interact with specific receptors or biological pathways. This creates the possibility of developing more targeted treatments that influence a particular process instead of broadly affecting the entire body.

While some peptides have strong clinical evidence and FDA-approved medical uses, others remain experimental. Many products marketed online as “research peptides” have not been adequately tested in humans and may not have established standards for safety, effectiveness, purity, or dosing.

The Future APNS Peptide Program

APNS plans to introduce its Peptide Therapy program in 2028. Our future program will focus on responsible, evidence-informed care rather than unverified promises or one-size-fits-all peptide combinations.

When the program launches, patients can expect:
