Conditions

Understanding your condition is one of the most important steps toward managing it.

The medical conditions section of our patient education library covers the health conditions most commonly seen in telehealth practice — from chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension to acute illnesses, men’s and women’s health concerns, and more. Each page breaks down what the condition is, how it’s diagnosed, what treatment looks like, and what you can expect long-term, in plain language without the medical jargon.

Use the library to research a diagnosis, prepare for a visit, or simply learn more about your health.

Gonorrhea

A common bacterial sexually transmitted infection that can affect the genitals, rectum, or throat and often causes no noticeable symptoms at all.

Gout

A common form of inflammatory arthritis caused by uric acid crystals that can trigger sudden, severe pain, swelling, redness, and warmth in a joint.

Graves’ Disease

An autoimmune thyroid disorder that causes the body to produce too much thyroid hormone, leading to symptoms such as weight loss, rapid heartbeat, tremors, and heat intolerance.

Hair Loss (Alopecia)

Hair loss, or alopecia, can cause gradual thinning, sudden shedding, or bald patches and may result from genetics, autoimmune disease, stress, illness, or hair damage.

Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis

An autoimmune thyroid disorder that gradually damages the thyroid gland and often leads to hypothyroidism, causing symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain, cold intolerance, and hair thinning.

Heartburn

A common burning sensation in the chest or throat caused by stomach acid flowing back into the esophagus, often after eating or when lying down.

Hemorrhoids

Swollen veins in or around the lower rectum and anus that can cause itching, pain, swelling, or bright red bleeding during bowel movements.

High Cholesterol

A common condition in which excess cholesterol—especially LDL cholesterol—can build up in the arteries and increase the risk of heart attack and stroke.

High Triglycerides

A condition in which triglyceride fats are elevated in the bloodstream, increasing heart-disease risk and, at very high levels, the risk of pancreatitis.
