Medications

This section is currently under development. Please check back soon.

Understanding your medication is one of the most important steps toward using it safely and effectively.

The medications section of our patient education library covers commonly prescribed and discussed medications used in telehealth practice — including treatments for chronic conditions, acute illnesses, men’s and women’s health concerns, mental health, weight management, and more. Each page explains what the medication is, how it works, why it may be prescribed, possible side effects, important safety considerations, and what to expect during treatment, in plain language without the medical jargon.

Use the library to learn more about a medication you have been prescribed, prepare for a visit, or better understand your treatment options.

Insulin Resistance

A metabolic condition in which the body’s cells respond poorly to insulin, forcing the pancreas to produce more and increasing the risk of prediabetes and type 2 diabetes.

Insomnia / Sleep Disorders

A common sleep disorder that makes it difficult to fall asleep, stay asleep, or feel rested and can affect energy, concentration, mood, and daily functioning.

Hypothyroidism

An underactive thyroid condition in which too little thyroid hormone slows the body’s functions, often causing fatigue, weight gain, cold intolerance, and dry skin.

Hyperthyroidism

An overactive thyroid condition that produces too much thyroid hormone, causing body functions to speed up and symptoms such as weight loss, rapid heartbeat, tremors, and heat intolerance.

Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)

A common condition in which blood pushes against artery walls with too much force, increasing the long-term risk of heart, brain, kidney, and blood-vessel damage.

Hyperpigmentation

Dark spots or patches caused by extra skin pigment that may develop after inflammation, sun exposure, hormonal changes, friction, or other triggers.

High Cholesterol

A common condition in which excess cholesterol—especially LDL cholesterol—can build up in the arteries and increase the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Hormone Replacement Therapy

A menopause treatment that uses estrogen, with or without a progestogen, to relieve hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal symptoms, and other effects of declining hormone levels.

High Triglycerides

A condition in which triglyceride fats are elevated in the bloodstream, increasing heart-disease risk and, at very high levels, the risk of pancreatitis.
